Why do some people feel a strong sense of self and some don’t?

Have you ever struggled with this question, ‘Why do some people feel a strong sense of self and some don’t?’.

This is a question a lot of people struggle with, it becomes like an internal street fight. Most people are challenged with trying to figure out why they aren’t getting the results they are striving for and why they feel a lack of confidence, whilst their social circles and work peers seem to have a strong sense of self and are achieving big goals.

I have had this internal battle before and it doesn’t need to be like this. Intellectually many people can tell you until they are black and blue in the face that they love themselves and that they feel a strong sense of self. Have you felt like this before? Internally you ‘feel’ (emphasizing the word ‘feel’) the total opposite, you are self destructive most of your days. Your internal self and your intellectual thoughts are in conflict, your ‘feelings’ about yourself are negative and largely destructive and then your intellectual thoughts are trying to convince yourself that you are beautiful and confident.

This happens subconsciously, you aren’t aware that you are in conflict. I had a poor internal self image for most of my life, it caused a lot of distress, confusion and upset in all areas of my life. It wasn’t until I started my healing journey where I became more conscious and I understood I was in conflict.

Our ‘feelings’ create an energy vibration that is put out into the world, where everything operates on energy. Even though my intellectual thoughts were trying to be positive, my ‘feelings’ that I was emotionally involved with overpowered my thoughts. This is why it’s important to become very conscious of how you are ‘feeling’ at all times. Our thoughts can be very different to how we are really ‘feeling’.

Why do some people feel a strong sense of self and some don’t?

It all starts with our self image.

You have programmed into the deep recesses of your mind a perception of what you are, who you are and what you are worth. This is referred to as an inner self image. It is a control mechanism that determines what comes into our life and how well we do.

Our image is built genetically, it’s passed along in our genes and it’s built in our younger life to a large degree. Our environment is crucial to how our self image is formed, we pick up on the behaviours and habits of our parents and caretakers and this is why some people have a strong sense of self and some don’t. A child that is raised with praise grows up with a strong sense of self and a child that is raised with criticism grows up with insecurities.

Our results are always a reflection of what’s going on internally. If you have a negative self image your results in life are going to be a result of that image.

Your self image that is fixed in your subconscious mind will determine how the rest of the world sees you. You are the only person who can alter this image.

Know there is an image of perfection in your consciousness we are all born consciously with this image, the more you move in the direction of this image, the more your life will improve.

As Dr Maxwell Maltz (Author of Psycho-Cybernetics) says; ‘The opinion you have of yourself will always be reflected to the world around you and it will be manifested in the results that you achieve in life. Keep in mind, that it is an opinion, yours and you can change it any time you choose’.

As your inner self image is changed, your world will change.

Changing your self image is a process and I can definitely help you with this. To get you started what you need to do is write a new script, a new self image statement. A statement expressing, what do you want to be? what life and career do you see for yourself? Who are you? What is your purpose? What are you capable of? You must write this statement as if it’s already happening in your life, you have to become the star of the movie of your life. Once you complete this statement, read it out loud several times a day, become emotionally involved with every single word in your statement.

This process is a very powerful way to start to change your internal self image. You are the only person that has the ability to alter, improve and change your self image. I know you can do it because this is exactly that way I changed my self image.
