How to Stop Living the Rat Race
Is your life a Rat Race? Are you constantly moving from here to there, in a hurry to do this or working frantically to do that, for no other purpose than to get somewhere that you keep dreaming of? But then, you sit down one day and realise that all that moving, doing, and working is consuming your life and you are not actually LIVING your dream?
With all of the bustle and busyness, you may not ever live to see your dream fulfilled if you keep up at this pace?
This is a trap that many of us fall into. We often spend so much time “getting” to the place that we’re going to, that we don’t pay any attention to the toll that all of this activity has on our body, mind, and spirit.
How many times have you ran out the door in the morning, off to take kids to school or yourself to work, and grabbed convenience food for breakfast, instead of preparing a loving, nutritious meal the night before?
How much time do you spend preparing for meetings, trying to meet deadlines, or checking off to-do lists and planning new projects? On many days, we simply forget to take a minute to grab a glass of water to hydrate and energise ourselves, or to sit in quite meditation for a few minutes to renew our soul.
Then evening comes, and we look back and realise that we got quite a bit done, but did we spend any time at all doing something that made our heart sing? Like going for a walk on the beach or listening to some of our favourite music? Spending quality time with your loved one?
Work, chores, and responsibilities are a necessary part of life. There are some things that we do because we know that they will make our lives easier and better in the future. When that is ALL that we are doing, tending to this or fixing that, there leaves no room in our lives for pleasure, reflection, gratitude, and for making the PRESENT moment part of the dream that we want so badly.

Spend quality time with your kids, with no phones and no distractions?
The way to get out of the Rat Race of trying to get somewhere is to simply be HERE now. Be present in your life.
- Enjoy every bit of clean, delicious food that you put in your mouth and know that your healthy, eating will bring you the body that you want. You don’t need to worry about the future if you’re enjoying living what you want now.
- Make a lunch date with someone special, and skip the morning coffee or the mid-day energy drink in favour of a nice cup of herbal tea over shared conversation.
- Grab a paper, scissors, and pen, and make a vision board that will serve as a reminder of everything you love and want; the things that should be making their way into your life right NOW.
- Let yourself go to sleep, at a decent hour, and allow everything beautiful that has entered your day stay with you, and anything that has drained you drift gently away.
Stop working towards your goals and dreams, and begin to live them. Then watch the magic that happens!
