How to Let Nature Heal You
Have you ever stepped barefoot on the grass? Felt the tickle of the blades between your toes and the cool, dampness of the soil on the bottom of your feet? The connection with the Earth, and with the healing power of nature, is so profound in simple moments like this that it seems obvious that our bodies are meant to be nurtured by her.
Sometimes, when we’re lost in the concrete and steel of the cities that we call home, we lose sight of the absolute beauty and perfection of the natural world.
The blood running through our veins, serves the same purpose as the green “blood” that runs through the plants and the trees. We step out into the light and take in energy from the sun. The same sun that shines down and nourishes all living things, like the birds flying overhead and the animals at our feet.
When we stop to realise our connection to the natural world, to the many living, breathing specimens of our planet like the tiny crustacean on the beach or the wooded eucalyptus that has aged gracefully in the rainforest, we begin to feel of purpose, significant, and loved.
Allowing yourself to come back to nature, to the pure state of your being before there were lines at grocery stores to stand in or cars on freeways to hide in, is to feel the calming energy of all that ever was. Nature moves at her own pace, without regard to big meetings that are on schedules or money that needs to be made.
The next time you feel like your life is off course, or pressures are laid upon you that seem too hard to bear, find a garden to sit in, watch the bees and the butterflies, fly from flower to flower, and hear the birds signing.
Walk to the water, feel the sand in between your toes. Scoop the water up in your hands and feel how easily and gently it slips away, washing with it any cares or worries. Listen to the crashing of the waves or the downpour of the rain, and allow the vibration of the sounds to merge with your own. Allow the peace of existence to resonate with you.
Understand that although you live your life at an arms length from nature, you can always come back to her, like an old friend, when you are feeling stressed, worried, or simply in need of finding your “home.”
That is how nature energises us. It fills up our spirit in ways that nothing else can. It feeds our bodies and souls with what is pure, and with what most of us want more than anything in the world, absolute, divine, and unconditional Love.
Make today a beautiful day for you and your loved ones by connecting back with nature.
