My 3 Secret Tools that have helped me get to where I am today.
One thing I always say to people, life is a journey, we are growing and learning each and everyday, and if we are open to it we will do this forever. This is the beautiful thing about life, where you are today isn’t where you are going to be in 10 years time, 5 years time or even 2 years time. I am going to start to share with you in 2013 my life journey, it’s been colourful in many ways and hard but rewarding work at the same time. I want you to know that I am still on a journey and will be forever, I still work on myself everyday, learning, growing, accepting, taking responsibility and understanding myself and what life is about. Lately I have felt a real sense of knowing exactly where I am heading and what I want out of my life. It’s a great feeling when you are in this space, it’s energising.
REFLECTION
Sitting or laying in a quiet space, reflecting on my life, has been a big part of my journey specially in the past 2 years.
Reflection is a beautiful time to share with yourself, find somewhere special or even just a quiet space where you can sit and have some time out. Close your eyes and just listen to the things you are being told and feel what you can feel. Feel the feelings, embrace them or allow yourself to feel them and then let them release out of your body. This process might take some practice, be patient. If you try once and it doesn’t feel right, try again tomorrow, keep trying I promise you will get it right if you persist with it. It’s a special time for gratitude to think about the things you are grateful for, think and reflect about your day, what went right, what went wrong and what needs to change for tomorrow, in a peaceful manner. The more you practice reflection, I find the more present in life you become, your mind starts to quieten down and you become more patient. Being present is something I try very hard to do all the time, I feel this is such an important quality in someone and with life these days as busy as it is, we are all less present than we ever have been.
I try and reflect daily, life get’s busy for us all so if not daily I do it every couple of days. Once you get in a routine with it, you will really start to enjoy it and actually love doing it.
QUESTION BOOK
One of my favourite and most empowering things to do is to write in my question book. A question book is a magical tool my coach told me about 2 years ago, I write in this, if not everyday it would be every 2nd, 3rd day. It’s nothing fancy it’s a lined A4 notepad that sits in my office. I write in this book asking all and any questions that are going through my head. By asking myself some direct questions and being patient to hear the answers, I find the right answers do come. Rather than being impatient and reacting to situations in life, relationships and business and making the wrong decisions.
Some examples of questions to ask yourself maybe: Am I happy? Who do I need to be to bring the right partner into my life? Am I happy in my current relationship? What do I need to do to reach a certain goal? Show me a clear direction to reach a certain goal? Please give me guidance to the right mentor. Please give me guidance on learning patience. Please give me guidance on where I am heading. Please show me a clear direction on where to take my business. Please show me a clear path to the right relationship. I am sure you get the picture, ask clear and direct questions and be PATIENT which leads to my 3rd tool.
PATIENCE
One thing I am really learning about life, is about being patient. If you are someone like me you really dislike this word. It’s taken me a long time to except this word, for a long time there I would totally block this word out, if I heard anyone say it to me. I am someone who like’s to work fast, act on things and just get things done. Slowly, I have begun to understand that this is not how life works, this is not how you find true happiness within yourself, this is not how you find the right relationship, and this isn’t the way to build a sustainable business with longevity. Sitting and feeling, understanding why certain things happen, really waiting to hear the answers whether they are the answer you want to hear or not. I was told something yesterday by my coach that really made a huge shift within me, ‘the more patient we are the faster things will flow’. When you think about this it make so much sense. If we are patient and get things done step by step instead of rushing something, its down the right way, where if we rush and quickly do something half the time it’s done incorrectly and we then have to do it again. So words of wisdom for today is ‘LEARN PATIENCE’.
Take some time out today to reflect on your life, where you are, where you are heading and ask yourself some questions and listen to those answer they are there.
“When another person makes you suffer, it is because he suffers deeply within himself, and his suffering is spilling over. He does not need punishment; he needs help. That’s the message he is sending.” – Thich Nhat Hanh
